Leather development as well as value addition has been a truly inspiring achievement for Kenya, as the traditional African country made its way into the newest business endeavor. Of course, Kenya has its own fair share of this journey of leather development which is steeped with a rich past rooted to the county's cultural heritage and truly encapsulating the essence associated with value addition through craftsmanship and sustainability. In this blog, we go the full mile to trace the thrilling-story of how Kenyan leather has evolved from raw hides to coveted pieces of heritage.
Where it all Began:
The leather industry in Kenya, for instance, is inspired by a lot of cultures where leather serves to identify status, tradition, and a conduit for craftsmanship. From beaded leatherwork synonymous with the Maasai to exemplary designs from disparate ethnic communities, Kenyan leather products have a narrative that speaks to the world.
1. Leather Tanning through Traditional Methods:
The practices involved in the treatment of animal hides by Kenyan craftsmen have all along been to do with tradition where natural components like tree barks and plant oils are applicable. These methodologies produce the finest quality leather that joins the ongoing artisan wave of sustainability.
2. Cow Farming as a Citadel:
